Mothers’ Watch consists of two moms, now grandmoms, who have read and researched sex education programs for over three decades.  We have been writing exclusively about Catholic schools since the early 1990’s, although our involvement in sex education issues started many years before.  We speak with authority when we say that there are no good classroom sex education programs.  K-12 classroom sex education, was invented by Planned Parenthood and has been the model for all classroom programs.

Sadly, the U. S. bishops have been the cause of the terrible state of affairs of the classrooms.  Without the urging of the bishops, Catholic schools would not have abandoned the teaching of the Faith and replaced it with “feel good about yourself” programs that are steeped in sex talk.   These programs began coming into schools in the late 1960’s leaving many students, now adults,  in a confused state.

In the wake of homosexual child abuse within the Church, the bishops actions are apalling.  Their response is to add another layer of sex education in the form of child abuse prevention programs which they euphemistically call “safe environment.”  These programs also target parents as abusers, thus infringing upon the security of the home for the trusting students.

While in recent months there seems to be a quiet shift regarding sex education programs with a new document from the bishops entitled "Catechetical Formation in Chaste Living: Guidelines for Curriculum Design and Publication," it remains to be seen if anything will actually be changing on the diocesan level.

Mothers’ Watch believes that to fix the problem that has, and is, continuing to rob young people of their Faith is first to understand what is going on in the classrooms.  That is the purpose of Mothers' Watch.

(Mothers' Watch is a non profit 501-C3 organization operating by the donations of people concerned about children and their education in our Catholic schools.)
